The administrative war between the counties of Prahova and Dâmbovița for the Bucegi Plateau continues, after the Dâmbovița Tribunal rejected the request of the Bușteni City Hall to declare the act of delimiting the territory of the Moroeni commune null. The decision is not final, and the lawsuit was opened in March 2023, following the ruling of the Pitești Court of Appeal from September 2022, which modified the border line between the two counties. The President of the Dâmbovița County Council, Corneliu Ștefan, stated that the natural monuments Sphinx and Babele now belong to Dâmbovița, but the Prahova Prefecture emphasized that they remain in the public domain of the city of Bușteni. The Tribunal considered that the request of the Bușteni City Hall was submitted late, rejecting it. The lawyer for the Bușteni City Hall explained that the dispute concerns the land under the monuments, which is located in Dâmbovița, but their ownership belongs to Bușteni. The legal dispute remains open, and both counties continue to fight for control over the Bucegi Plateau.
