A tense moment took place in Parliament during the debate on the budget of the Ministry of National Defense, after Senator Ninel Peia entered the committee room and challenged the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, asking him if he had served in the army and accusing him of "not knowing how to shoot a weapon."

The minister's reply came immediately, stating that at the time of the elimination of mandatory military service he was still in school and suggesting that "Russian noises" could be heard in the room. The discussions later escalated into a harsh exchange of words between representatives of the National Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party, against the backdrop of an amendment proposed by the social democrats regarding the provision of aid for military pensioners.
