On Thursday, education unionists organized a protest at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Research, dissatisfied with the fiscal-budgetary measures adopted by the Government. They claim that these measures threaten the quality of education and the stability of jobs. The protesters, members of the Federation of Free Trade Unions in Education and the Federation of Trade Unions in Education 'Spiru Haret', display critical messages, such as 'Education, the national priority... at cuts.'
The unionists accuse the Ministry of Education of misinformation, stating that they do not have access to the 'EduSAL' salary program to verify the salary calculation algorithm and that they have not been provided with the Court of Accounts report regarding the neuropsychic overload bonus. The Ministry stated that teachers' salaries have not been reduced, but that a 'unitary' calculation of the bonus is applied, according to the checks by the Court of Accounts. The unionists demand legal clarifications regarding the reduction of teachers' salaries and accuse the ministry of a lack of transparency in communicating relevant information.
