Carmen, a young teacher from Spain, had a shocking experience during her three years of teaching at a bilingual high school in Romania. She was deeply impressed by the disorganization and low level of civilization in the Romanian educational system. In a podcast, Carmen discussed the attitude of students and parents, emphasizing that grades are more important than the knowledge acquired, and her demands were perceived as a form of aggression.

She observed that students have the freedom to use their phones during class, to sleep in class, and to order food, behaviors that are unacceptable in Spain. She also mentioned the intervention of parents in the teaching activity, including messages received during late hours about students' grades. Carmen raised an alarm about the need for reforms in education, in the context where the budget allocated to this field is below the European average. The former Minister of Education, Daniel David, highlighted the risks of functional illiteracy and the importance of reforms in the Romanian educational system.
