Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu announced that Tarom is facing a critical situation, with the company's business model being considered unsustainable. During a press conference, Gheorghiu emphasized that Tarom is undergoing a restructuring process approved by the European Commission, but it is not in accordance with the established timeline.

Authorities are analyzing alternative scenarios, including the possibility of a public-private partnership, in the event that Brussels does not approve an extension of the restructuring plan. The Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that Tarom has recorded financial losses over the last ten years and that it is necessary to implement firm recovery measures, with the support of specialists.

The Ministry of Transport controls the Tarom file and is awaiting the necessary feedback to continue the restructuring process. Gheorghiu concluded that, in the absence of viable solutions, Tarom will need to explore alternative options to secure its future.
