STB launches new Bucur LF-CA 411 trams and modernizes the existing fleet

The Bucharest Transport Company (STB) has launched the first tests with the new Bucur LF-CA 411 tram, produced by the URAC factory. In parallel, STB is reintroducing older trams, branded Bucur, that have been refurbished. The director of STB, Adrian Criț, announced a modernization plan for 20 Tatra T4R trams, which will benefit from a new lifespan of 30 years. The General Council has approved a capital increase of 301 million lei, of which 241 million lei will be allocated for the modernization of the trams.

STB estimates that it needs 400 trams to ensure a quality transport service, currently having only 300 usable ones. The modernized trams will have increased accessibility, energy savings, and will be equipped with air conditioning. Additionally, STB will collaborate with private companies for modernizations, and the acquisition of 200 new trams is underway.
