Ion Iliescu, Romania's first post-communist president, has died at the age of 95. His coffin will be laid to rest on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace, and the funeral will take place on Thursday in Ghencea Cemetery, in the presence of his family and close friends. The state funeral will be held on August 6 and 7, 2025, with official ceremonies and religious moments, including a funeral procession and military honors.
