A Sri Lankan citizen, 23 years old, was detained by DIICOT for international drug trafficking, being accused of importing various types of narcotics, including cannabis, cocaine, ecstasy, and amphetamines, from Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands.
According to DIICOT, in February 2026, the young man ordered a package from Canada, containing approximately 30 grams of cannabis, intended for sale. In March 2026, he introduced into Romania, also by mail, a package with over 500 LSD stamps and cocaine. At the end of the same month, he brought from Germany 544 tablets of amphetamines and MDMA, as well as cocaine.
In April 2026, he imported 498 ecstasy tablets from the Netherlands. The drugs were seized during the criminal investigation, and the search of his home in Afumați led to the discovery of items with traces of substances, a grinder, a precision scale, and zip-lock bags.
The young man was presented to the Bucharest Tribunal with a proposal for preventive detention for 30 days.
