In Romania, the snow has already begun in several areas, and snow is expected in Bucharest on Wednesday evening. Meteorologists have issued a yellow code for strong winds and blizzard snow for 19 counties, with wind gusts of 45-55 km/h. The snow layer will be most consistent in Oltenia and the Southern Carpathians, where approximately 25 centimeters of snow is expected. Snow will also affect other regions, including Transylvania and Moldova, but with lighter precipitation. Additionally, a significant cooling of the weather is expected, with negative temperatures, especially in eastern Transylvania and the northern half of Moldova, where temperatures can reach -12 degrees.
Snow will continue on New Year's Eve night, especially in the mountains, but there will also be light snow in the low areas. ANM meteorologist Oana Păduraru mentioned that the snow layer will persist in areas with more consistent accumulations, while in other regions it will be less consistent.
