Robert Fico, in Bucharest. The Slovak Prime Minister criticizes Brussels and has requested Romania's support for his country's candidacy in the UN Security Council.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, stated on Friday, during a meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, that a large part of their agenda focuses on Brussels, which limits the time dedicated to bilateral projects.

Fico thanked for the Romanian hospitality and emphasized the importance of the historical relations between the two countries, mentioning Romania's contribution to the liberation of Slovakia.

He also requested Romania's support for Slovakia's candidacy for a member position on the UN Security Council for the period 2027-2028.

Fico highlighted that, although the bilateral turnover is 5 billion euros, it could be much higher if there were no blockages in the European agenda.

"Yes, it is true that 5 billion euros is the turnover we have. But why can't it be done, why can't it be eight? Because we don't have time for ourselves. Because a large part of our agenda focuses on Brussels, on issues that block us and do not give us time to dedicate ourselves to bilateral projects," emphasized Robert Fico. 

The Slovak Prime Minister invited Bolojan to visit Bratislava to continue the discussions.
