The Carpathian Association of Transylvanian Tourists (S.K.V.) from Sibiu has announced that it is once again interested in maintaining mountain shelters. Participants emphasized the importance of community and increasing the visibility of the association, planning activities that will focus on information and education, especially for children and young people. S.K.V., founded in 1881, has played an essential role in marking mountain trails and in building shelters, contributing to the introduction of mountain guides and the mountain rescue service. Over time, the association has had up to 5000 members and included 18 sections, but currently has only five active sections. Its history also includes initiatives for establishing a sanatorium in the Southern Carpathians, aimed at providing a place for rest for tourists and suffering individuals.
