The mayor of Sinaia, Vlad Oprea, has been remanded in custody by police officers on the basis of a warrant issued by the Bucharest Tribunal, which replaced judicial control on bail with remand. Oprea is accused of taking bribes and other offenses related to his position, having previously been under judicial control. The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected his appeal, and he will be jailed for 30 days in the Câmpina Remand and Preventive Detention Center. Oprea denies the accusations as speculation.
