The National Institute of Statistics reported a decrease in the volume of timber harvested in 2023 compared to the previous year.

The volume of timber harvested in 2023 was 19.17 million cubic cubic meters, down 1.068 million cubic meters from the previous year. Softwoods accounted for 37.5% of the total, beech 32.3%, miscellaneous hardwoods 11.9%, oak 10.6% and miscellaneous softwoods 7.7%. 95.4% of the timber harvested was destined for 95.4% of legal entities certified in logging.
