On Wednesday morning, a serious incident occurred at the Mihai Eminescu National College in Botoșani, where a piece of ceiling detached and fell over the teacher's desk and the first desk in the classroom during lessons. Although no casualties were reported, the moment caused panic among students and teachers. The incident raised serious questions regarding the quality of the recent rehabilitation works, considering that the building's rehabilitation was carried out in 2024 with European funds through PNRR, managed by the Botoșani City Hall.
Parents and teaching staff are calling for urgent checks in all renovated educational units. This incident is not isolated; a similar case recently occurred at the Mihail Sturdza Technical College in Iași, where the ceiling collapsed due to water infiltrations. These events highlight the need to comply with construction standards and to conduct periodic checks of school buildings.
