Today, the police conducted several searches in the town of Răcari, Dâmbovița County, targeting two women suspected of committing fraud against elderly individuals using the 'charity' method. They approached women over 70 years old on the street in Ploiești, claiming to offer them blessed jewelry from King Cioabă, the self-proclaimed king of the Roma.

The victims were convinced to take off their gold or silver jewelry to try on the earrings, rings, or bracelets offered, which were actually fake. Taking advantage of their distraction, the suspects would place the victims' original jewelry into a bag and leave with it. The total damage caused by these frauds is estimated at nearly 14,000 lei. The two suspects will be taken for questioning to respond to the charges.
