The Superior Council of the Magistracy (SCM) has issued a statement claiming that President Elena Costache's statements about the amount of magistrates' pensions were distorted. Costache stated that pensions of 70% of net salary, reaching 14,000 lei for Appeal Court judges, are low. The SJC points out that the full interview was omitted in the broadcast montage and the message was presented in a truncated way, ignoring the complexity and responsibilities of the judiciary. The SCM calls for responsible and respectful dialog in public discourse.
