Save the Children Romania urges the Government to implement urgent legislative measures to completely ban access for children under 13 years old to social networks and to allow conditional access for children between 13 and 15 years old, only with parental consent.

The organization emphasizes the need for sanctions against platforms that allow minors to create accounts. Recent studies show that children's use of social networks is associated with significant risks to mental health, including symptoms of addiction and self-harm behaviors. Save the Children proposes a legislative framework that includes age verification, digital education in schools, and holding platforms accountable.

The experience of other European countries demonstrates the feasibility of these measures, and the organization believes that protecting children in the digital environment is a duty of the state.
