The organization Save the Children Romania has requested a total ban on access for children under 13 years old to social networks and a conditional access for those between 13 and 15 years old, with parental monitoring. Furthermore, they warn that the lack of strict regulations exposes children to serious risks, including mental health issues and sexual exploitation. Studies show excessive use of social networks by minors, with symptoms of addiction in over 20% of children aged between 11 and 15 years.

Save the Children emphasizes the need for real measures to verify users' ages and penalties for platforms that do not comply with these rules. They also propose the introduction of digital education in schools and holding authorities accountable for the protection of minors online. The organization calls on the Romanian Government to urgently regulate this area, considering examples from other countries that have implemented similar laws.
