The SANITAS unionists announced on Tuesday that they categorically reject the project of the new salary law, considering it unfair, incomplete, and profoundly disadvantageous for employees in the public health and social assistance systems.

Following an emergency meeting, SANITAS concluded that the current form of the law does not respect the commitments discussed with the government. They claim that the incomes for more than half of the employees will be capped or will decrease, and the reduction of bonuses will severely affect real incomes. Additionally, the unionists state that the law does not treat professional categories equitably and omits categories of employees. SANITAS warns the government that it cannot expect stability and performance from employees under conditions where their incomes are reduced. As a sign of protest, the unionists will organize protest actions, including pickets at the Ministry of Labor and Parliament. The president of SANITAS, Iulian Pope, stated that the current project is unacceptable and demands its withdrawal and the resumption of negotiations.

The new salary law, presented by the interim Minister of Labor, Dragoș Pîslaru, provides for a unitary salary system for public employees, but without exceptions for certain professional categories.
