A Russian Su-30SM airplane crashed near Snake Island, 40 km from the Romanian border, and the wreckage was found without pilots. The Ukrainian navy intercepted Russian communications confirming loss of contact with the aircraft. Russia launched a search operation, but the pilots have not been located. The Su-30SM is a generation 4+ fighter, costing about $50 million, capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
