Romania’s ambassador to Chișinău, Cristian-Leon Țurcanu, condemned the incident that occurred today near the Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing, following Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. A projectile fell near the border between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, and a Border Police employee was slightly injured.
Following the impact, a route bus and the control booth were damaged. The incident occurred amid a series of attacks and drone incidents recorded in recent days, which affected the airspace and security of the Republic of Moldova.
The Romanian diplomat said the event represents further evidence of the direct consequences of the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine for the security of the Republic of Moldova and regional stability. He warned that such incidents create risks beyond Ukrainian territory.
Cristian-Leon Țurcanu reaffirmed Romania’s support for the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova and said Bucharest would continue to support efforts to strengthen the country’s security and resilience in the face of regional threats.
