The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, declared on Tuesday that Romania will produce "the most modern assault weapon in the world," following a favorable report for the SAFE program. This weapon will be intended for the Ministry of National Defense, as well as for the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Intelligence Service, and the Protection and Guard Service.

The project, which will be developed at the arms factory in Cugir, also includes the production of ammunition in Sadu. Miruță emphasized that it is a larger package that includes assault weapons and pistols of various calibers. He highlighted the major impact of this program on Romania and thanked President Nicușor Dan for the support provided.

He also mentioned that the new regulations will allow the construction of factories in Romania, replacing previously imposed localization obligations, which will stimulate local industrial development.
