On the 45th anniversary of Dumitru Prunariu's historic flight, Romania will host an international meeting dedicated to pioneers and the new generations of space explorers, scheduled for May 15, 2026. The event will bring together important figures such as Ivan Bella, Pedro Duque, and Alper Gezeravcı, who have paved the way in space exploration for their countries.

Representatives from the European Space Agency will also be present, including Julie Payette and Paolo Nespoli, alongside Claudie Haigneré, France's first female astronaut. Jannikke Mikkelsen will represent the new generation of explorers. The guests will travel by the LEON train, a symbol of the revitalization of the Romanian railway industry, and will participate in a concert, a conference, and a visit to the 'Henri Coandă' Air Force Academy. The CE-certified LEON train is energy-efficient and has a low environmental impact.
