The National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development reported two earthquakes in Romania on Thursday morning. The first, with a magnitude of 2.9, occurred in the Vrancea-Buzău area at a depth of 121.1 km, at 03:32. It was felt near the cities of Buzău, Ploiești, Focșani, Brașov, Sfântu Gheorghe, and Târgoviște. The second earthquake, with a magnitude of 2.3, took place in the Muntenia-Brăila region, at a depth of 13.4 km, at 07:30, with the epicenter near Galați and Brăila. In 2025, the largest recorded earthquakes in Romania had magnitudes of 4.4. Specialists provide recommendations for protection during earthquakes, including taking shelter under sturdy tables and avoiding exiting buildings during the earthquake.
