Romania will request Ukraine to implement a system that obliges Ukrainian naval drones to self-destruct if they approach the Romanian coastline.

This request was made by the interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, following the incident in the port of Constanța, where a Ukrainian drone exploded on June 5. Miruță explained that, in the event a drone loses communication and approaches Romanian waters at a distance of over 12 nautical miles, it should self-destruct.

Technically, the drones are equipped with electronic components that allow tracking and programming of detonation. Romania and Ukraine will discuss this proposal, and the Romanian authorities have requested explanations after the incident in the port.
