At the NATO summit in Turkey, the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, will emphasize the importance of a greater distribution of NATO resources on the eastern flank, including in Romania.

Miruță mentioned that discussions with three countries are advanced, considering the awareness of the impact of the war in Ukraine on Romania. Romania has made significant progress regarding defense investments, reaching a percentage of 2.24% of GDP, with the goal of reaching 3% ahead of schedule.

Additionally, Miruță highlighted the importance of security in the Black Sea, mentioning contracts for the construction of new ships. Furthermore, he proposed to Ukraine that drones launched in the Black Sea be pre-programmed to self-detonate in case they enter Romanian waters, to avoid incidents. This measure is part of efforts to protect national territory and strengthen collaboration with NATO.
