The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) announced that Romania has received the Formal Opinion of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in the field of financial markets, this being the 21st opinion out of the 25 required for joining the organization.

The president of ASF, Alexandru Petrescu, stated that the decision represents a validation of the efforts to align national legislation and practices with OECD standards and emphasized that the institution will continue the process of reform and modernization to ensure the long-term stability of the financial market. The assessment focused on the capital market, insurance, and the private pension system, and the Romanian authorities have committed to completing the accession process by the end of 2026.
