Romania has inaugurated a national framework for cooperation regarding artificial intelligence in the judicial system, according to an announcement from the Presidential Administration.

At the invitation of President Nicușor Dan, Romanian judicial institutions gathered with European representatives and experts from the private sector to discuss the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in justice. The first edition of the 'Just.AI' Forum marked the beginning of a strategic initiative dedicated to the use of modern technologies without compromising the fundamental values of the rule of law.

Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of establishing rules and guarantees for the use of these technologies, reaffirming that justice remains a human responsibility. The forum culminated in the signing of the 'Just.AI' Memorandum, which will create a national mechanism for inter-institutional dialogue to develop principles for the integration of artificial intelligence.

Working groups will assess the needs of the judicial system and will prepare diagnostic reports, with the aim of presenting technological solutions and a national action plan by 2027. Romania thus aims to actively contribute to the European debate on the use of artificial intelligence in justice, promoting a human-centered approach.
