The Ministry of Defense announced on Friday details about GlobalEye, a new NATO Airborne Warning and Control System that can simultaneously detect drones, aircraft, ships, and missiles at hundreds of kilometers away.
This advanced radar, which flies at an altitude of 13,000 meters and has a range of 12 hours, is considered one of the most modern air surveillance systems in the world. Romania has joined the iAFSC Program, which develops the next generation of NATO surveillance systems. GlobalEye can monitor an extensive area, having a detection range of over 650 kilometers for certain objects.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that through this system, Romania contributes to NATO's surveillance and early warning capabilities. GlobalEye will replace the current fleet of AWACS aircraft, providing significantly improved capabilities for the coming decades. The project includes the participation of several allied countries, thus enhancing regional security.
