Ionuț Dumitru, honorary advisor to the Prime Minister, stated that Romania is in a difficult economic period, influenced by international conflicts, such as the one in the Middle East, and by internal economic issues.

He emphasized that the downward revision of economic forecasts reflects new realities, including rising fuel prices. Dumitru mentioned that the adopted fiscal measures were inevitable, considering a high budget deficit of 9-10% of GDP, which requires corrections. The fiscal adjustment will lead to lower economic growth and inflationary pressures, but some of the corrections have already been made. He warned that Romania is vulnerable to new economic shocks due to a lack of resources for interventions and political instability, which can affect investor confidence. Dumitru concluded that maintaining stability and reducing the budget deficit are essential to ensure external financing at reasonable costs.
