Radu Miruță, the Minister of Defense, stated that Romania enjoys the security umbrella provided by NATO member states that possess nuclear weapons, such as France and the United Kingdom, and therefore, there is no need for the development of nuclear components in the country. Miruță confirmed that all acquired Patriot systems are operational and mentioned that the donation of equipment to Ukraine was made with the approval of Parliament, Romania receiving in return the equivalent in armament. He also emphasized that discussions within NATO focus on collective defense, without the intention of fragmenting alliances, stressing that adversaries would take advantage of any division within the Western camp.
