The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, stated that Romania records almost all cases of measles in the European Union, with a vaccination rate of only 47.4% for the first dose. The significant decrease in the vaccination rate in recent years and medical misinformation, amplified on social networks, are the main causes of this alarming situation.

Rogobete emphasized that the Ministry of Health has launched information campaigns to combat misinformation and encourage vaccination. He also mentioned that family medicine plays a crucial role in correctly informing the population. According to data, Romania had 27,568 cases of measles, representing over 85% of the total cases in the European Union, while Italy, with 1,097 cases, is in second place. Systemic issues, such as bureaucracy and lack of resources, contribute to this public health crisis.
