The U.S. Ambassador to Bucharest, Darryl Nirenberg, stated that Romania has the potential to become a key player in the transformation of the energy sector in Central and Eastern Europe. He emphasized the importance of reducing dependence on Russian resources and highlighted the opportunities that our country has in this context. Nirenberg pointed out that Romania can significantly contribute to diversifying energy sources and strengthening energy security in the region. This strategic position could transform Romania into a regional leader in the energy field, considering its natural resources and international commitments. The ambassador encouraged collaboration between Romania and the United States to support these initiatives.
"At its core, Romania has the potential to revolutionize the energy sector in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in terms of reducing dependence on Russia. As President Trump said, energy security means national security, and energy is the key to economic development. Romania has several resources that it is exploiting, and others that it will exploit. The nuclear program is promising, and we are happy that the U.S. is contributing technology and companies to the refurbishment of the reactors at Cernavodă," said the diplomat in his first interview with the Romanian press since taking office as U.S. ambassador to Romania.
