On Friday afternoon, firefighters and divers from Cluj County launched an emergency operation on the Someș River, in the municipality of Gherla, after two children fell into the water due to the collapse of the ice they were playing on. A teenager managed to rescue one of the children, who was transported to the hospital for medical care. The other child, approximately 4 years old, is still being searched for by the intervention teams.

At the scene, crews from the Dej Fire Department, divers from the 1st Cluj-Napoca Department, a rescue vehicle, and a SMURD crew are mobilized. The intervention is complicated by the low temperatures and the ice on the river, which hinder the search operations. Authorities continue to work to find the missing child.
