The Renault Group announced the relocation of the production of several Dacia models from Romania, which could lead to the loss of approximately 1,200 jobs at the Mioveni factory, according to the Dacia Automobile Union (SAD). This decision comes in a context where Dacia's production and sales are already in decline, with a significant decrease in estimated production for this year. The Dacia Striker model will be manufactured in Turkey, and a new electric model from segment A will be assembled in Slovenia. The Mioveni factory, which produces about 90% for export, will be directly affected, along with the Romanian economy as a whole, considering that many jobs in the supply chain depend on the factory's activity. Competition in the European automotive industry has increased, and Renault's strategy aims for half of its models to be sold outside Europe by 2030. Dacia's production decreased by 18.5% in February 2026, while sales dropped drastically, by 52% in Romania compared to the same month of the previous year.
