Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announces that the Cernavodă power plant can still operate for another four or five days under the current conditions, in which the level of the Danube continues to drop by a few centimeters.

This states that the authorities continue to make efforts to ensure a higher flow on the Danube branch from which the water used for cooling the plant is drawn.

"Today we have a Danube level in the area where the water for cooling is drawn that ensures us a functioning of four to five days, if the flows continue to decrease by one, two, three centimeters per day. What we are doing these days is making efforts to try to direct, through crisis measures – dredging, submerging some barges, removing some natural obstacles – in such a way that, even if the flow of the Danube decreases at the entry into the country, on the branch that supplies the Cernavodă plant with cooling water, we have a higher flow," stated Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Friday morning, in an interview for RFI Romania.
