A significant archaeological discovery was made at the construction site of the A8 highway, near the town of Târgu Neamț, where a fragment of an amphora nearly 2,000 years old was found. The director of the Târgu Neamț History and Ethnography Museum, Vasile Diaconu, announced that the artifact comes from a settlement of free Dacians, dating from the 2nd-3rd centuries AD.

The discovery highlights the commercial activities carried out by these communities in the sub-Carpathian area. The fragment of the amphora has the Greek letter 'Fi' painted in red on its neck, indicating possible initials of the owners. Diaconu emphasized the importance of the archaeological heritage in Neamț County, which deserves better promotion and recognition.
