Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), provided new details about the criminal case in which he is accused of smuggling, in connection with the purchase of a helicopter from Great Britain. Arafat published documents on Facebook that support his claim that the accusations are unfounded and that there is an attempt to discredit him. He emphasized that all actions related to the acquisition of the helicopter were carried out according to the instructions of the competent authorities, including the General Directorate of Customs and ANAF.

Arafat mentioned that the activities were transparent and that the smuggling accusations are contradictory, considering that they were made through official correspondence. He also explained that the administrative aspects were not under his coordination at the time of the helicopter's purchase, and maintaining the accusations ignores the previous conclusions of the DNA. In total, 17 people are being investigated in this case, related to the non-payment of VAT for the helicopter imported into Romania. Arafat expressed confidence that an objective analysis will clarify the situation.
