The interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, together with a delegation from the Ministry of National Defense, participated on Tuesday in the Defense Industry Forum at the NATO Summit in Ankara.
At the opening of the proceedings, the program iAFSC - Alliance Future Surveillance and Control, was presented, which will allow the replacement of the old AWACS fleet with next-generation aircraft.
Miruță announced the signing of memorandums of understanding for air defense and missile defense projects, aiming at multinational cooperation in the IAMD field.
Additionally, the memorandum for NATO Flight Training Europe was updated, which includes training pilots for various types of aircraft.
Romania has joined the Coalition for the Naval Strike Missile and Joint Strike Missile acquisitions.
The summit brought together NATO officials and leaders of the defense industry, aiming to identify solutions to current security challenges. The projects discussed include air defense capabilities against low-altitude threats and the development of modern passive air surveillance systems.
