Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Transport, announced urgent measures for Metrorex, emphasizing that the company's problems can no longer be ignored. He convened the General Assembly of Shareholders (AGA) to discuss essential topics, including the review of costly security and cleaning contracts, the recovery of uncollected penalties, and the legalization of activities at the Ciurel depot.
Miruță highlighted alarming figures, such as millions in uncollected penalties and delays in construction sites, stressing that Bucharest residents are paying more for lower quality services. He also announced that the metro ticket will not increase in price, contrary to previous decisions. The minister mentioned that he found 60 million euros uncollected from penalties for a single contract, emphasizing the need to transform Metrorex into an entity that serves citizens, not interest groups.
