The parishioners of Sânnicolaul Mic protested against the appointment of a priest without a competition, demanding transparency and respect for the rules of the Orthodox Church.

Approximately 1,000 parishioners from Sânnicolau Mic protested at the Archdiocese of Arad, contesting the appointment of a priest who has been active in politics, without a competition. The people gathered signatures and sent a letter to Patriarch Daniel, requesting the cancellation of the decision. Representatives of the Archdiocese did not provide statements, and the spokesperson mentioned internal discussions. The contested priest, Bogdan Noghiu, claimed that he has given up politics and that many protesters do not know what they are signing. The parishioners threatened with future protests if a competition for the position is not organized.
