The mayor of Buzău announces efforts to transform the Boboc military airport into a civil and military airport, named Otopeni II, needing approval from the Ministry of Defense.

The mayor of Buzău municipality, Constantin Toma, announced the initiation of a project to transform the Boboc military airport into a civil and military airport, proposed to be named Otopeni II. This project could bring significant benefits due to its proximity to the A7 motorway and the 500 railway line, allowing for the handling of flights in case of disruptions in air traffic from Bucharest.

Constantin Toma mentioned that he requested the Government to start the necessary studies, emphasizing the importance of this airport in the current security context. The Ministry of National Defense stated that the project requires approvals and a detailed analysis to ensure that national defense and security interests are respected. Additionally, it is proposed to connect the airport to the A7 motorway and the municipality of Buzău to maximize the benefits.
