The National Police and Contractual Personnel Union from the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced a protest for Saturday, in Victory Square, against the increase of the retirement age for police officers, proposed through a draft of an emergency ordinance. The union members demand the removal of Article LVI from the draft, considering it unconstitutional.

The protest will take place before the debate of this draft in the plenary session of the Economic and Social Council.

In an open letter addressed to the Government, the union members highlight the issues faced by employees in the defense system, including precarious salaries, staff shortages, and inequalities in military pensions. They are requesting an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to discuss these demands, warning that, in the absence of a response, they will organize large protests, including a possible strike.
