The polar vortex, a phenomenon with a significant impact on winter weather in North America and Europe, forms annually with the cooling of the polar regions. Although this year it is weaker than average, the temperature differences between polar and subtropical areas can generate a cyclonic atmospheric circulation. Meteorologists warn that certain factors could destabilize the vortex in the coming months, thus influencing future weather conditions.
