The Argeș County Council inaugurated the mascot 'Bobiță', a small dog symbolizing the awareness campaign regarding the sterilization of animals with and without owners, in Vasile Milea Square in Pitești. Created by artist Eden Lumaja, the mascot aims to convey messages of empathy and responsibility towards animals. The campaign is carried out in partnership with the German Association Tierhilfe Hoffnung and other local institutions.
However, the reactions of internet users have been mixed, with some praising the initiative, while others criticizing how the authorities manage the issue of stray animals, accusing them of euthanizing these animals at high costs to the public budget. Users pointed out that the real problem is the system that profits from the suffering of animals, and mascots do not solve the actual situation on the ground. Criticisms also targeted local regulations that prohibit feeding animals in public spaces, deeming them inadequate and hypocritical.
