The Petrotel Lukoil Refinery in Ploiești will be completely shut down for 45 days, from October 17 to November 30, to carry out a major overhaul. This operation is essential for safe access to major equipment, conducting detailed technical inspections, as well as performing necessary repairs and tests. The shutdown of the refinery will help reduce operational risks, improve energy performance, and ensure compliance with environmental and industrial safety standards.
Residents in the area are warned that during the shutdown and startup, louder noises and specific odors from petroleum products may occur, but these will not exceed permissible limits. Normal operations will resume after the completion of technological tests and safety verifications. The works are carried out under the strict monitoring of the competent authorities, including the Emergency Situations Inspectorate and the National Environmental Guard. The refinery has a refining capacity of approximately 2.5 million tons annually.
