High schools with a pedagogical profile will no longer organize admissions for traditional specializations, such as teacher, educator, and nursery nurse. These will be replaced by five new fields of study: Early Education, Primary Education Pedagogy, General Pedagogy, Non-Formal Education Pedagogy, and School Mediation, according to a draft framework regulation currently under public debate. This change is the result of the application of the Pre-University Education Law no. 198/2023, which updates the nomenclature of professions in education.
Adriana Robu, deputy director of the 'Vasile Lupu' National Pedagogical College, emphasized the necessity of this modification to adapt professional training to current requirements. The project stipulates that graduates of the 'Primary Education Pedagogy' specialization can only become tenured after completing university studies. Additionally, individuals convicted of serious crimes cannot hold teaching positions. Students following the old regulation will continue with it, while those wishing to become educators must complete the 'Early Education' specialization.
