Physical classes have been completely suspended in three counties, Galați, Vrancea, Giurgiu and partially in Brăila due to heavy snowfall.
On Wednesday, the authorities in the counties of Vrancea and Galați decided to suspend in-person classes in all educational institutions due to heavy snowfall and strong blizzards. The Vrancea Prefecture announced that, following an analysis conducted by the County Committee for Emergency Situations, it was decided that teaching activities would take place online, according to the decisions of the educational institutions and the school inspectorate.
Additionally, the county of Galați, which is under an orange weather warning, adopted a similar measure, including for schools in the municipality of Galați.
The county of Giurgiu was the first to announce on Tuesday the closure of schools due to unfavorable weather.
In the county of Brăila, classes in educational institutions are suspended, except for those in the municipality of Brăila.
Additionally, train services are severely affected on Wednesday morning, with 20 services suspended and delays of up to five hours at the North Station. IGSU reported that the snowfall and blizzards have affected 67 localities in 21 counties and the municipality of Bucharest.
