The West University of Timișoara will host a meeting on May 25 with Oleksandra Matviiciuk, the president of the 'Center for Civil Liberties' organization and laureate of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize. In a tense European context, Matviiciuk will address themes such as freedom, democracy, and civic responsibility, playing an essential role in documenting war crimes in Ukraine. This visit is part of the 'Nobel @ UVT' series, which aims to bring influential personalities of global discourse to Romania. Matviiciuk was recently awarded the European Order of Merit for her contributions to the defense of European values. The public is invited to two events: the ceremony for the awarding of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa UVT and the conference 'Memory, Resistance and Human Dignity in Times of Conflict', moderated by journalist Sabina Iosub. This meeting offers a rare opportunity to engage in dialogue with an important voice in the defense of human rights.
