The interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, stated on Monday that Romania needs additional investments to strengthen security on NATO's Eastern Flank, in the context of threats generated by the war initiated by Russia against Ukraine.

Responding to statements by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk regarding a period of increased risk for regional security, Oana Ţoiu affirmed that assessments regarding threats have been constantly discussed within the Alliance. She also mentioned incidents caused by the incursion of drones near Romanian territory and the impact of the conflict in Ukraine on regional security.

The head of Romanian diplomacy specified that these topics will be on the agenda of future meetings of NATO foreign and defense ministers, as well as at the meeting of Alliance leaders, where measures to strengthen collective security and the Eastern Flank will be analyzed.
